This is my depiction of Grainne Ni Mhaille or Grace O'Malley, in oil paints. Grace was an Irish pirate from Galway in the 16th Century. She led a band of 200 sea raiders, was twice widowed, twice imprisoned, fought her enemies, both in Ireland and England for her rights, condemned for piracy, and finally pardoned in London by Queen Elizabeth 1.
